The Community Partners Intern is responsible for managing contacts and growing LocalJobNetwork’s Community Partners program, with emphasis on adding veteran employment service organizations, diversity agencies and support groups, and expanding LocalJobNetwork site services to better connect diverse job seekers with our employers.


Responsibilities
  • Promote LocalJobNetwork websites as an essential resource for diversity and veterans recruiting and employment.
  • Promote diversity hiring and veteran work programs among employer groups through our websites and community outreach.
  • Undertake community outreach and develop active partnerships and alliances with the following agencies and organizations, at the local, regional and national levels:
    • Veterans Employment and Training offices, Local Veteran Employment Reps and Disabled Veteran Outreach Program Reps, Vocational Rehabilitation office, veteran service organizations and reserve military services.
    • Career One Stop Centers, State Workforce Agencies, State Job Banks and local Job Centers
    • Minority organizations and Diversity interest groups
    • University Career Services
    • Professional and Industry Associations
  • Maintain a database of current contacts at our Community Partner organizations.
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with all contacts and organizations assuring that LocalJobNetwork is represented professionally and positively.

Qualifications
  • Requires current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree program - need to be at a Sophomore or Junior standing. Related to degree type - open. Preferred majors: Sales, Marketing, Communications, Non profit, Social Work or Community Education & Engagement.
  • Requires someone able to work 40 hours per week Monday through Friday during summer and during school breaks; and between 15-20 hours per week Monday through Friday while school is in session. Willing to be flexible on specific hours worked in order to accommodate class schedule.
  • Requires strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with partners.
  • Requires a culturally sensitive and empathetic individual, demonstrated commitment to equal opportunity in employment and a strong focus on customer service.
  • An outgoing personality and a confident communicator.
  • Requires planning and organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Requires the ability to perform well on a team.
  • Requires proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, recruitment websites and other relevant technology.
